People have been practicing yoga, based on profound physical and spiritual knowledge for 5000 years, but it is still as up-to-date as it was when it began. Vinyasa yoga is a flowing form of yoga that was developed from a series of ancient Sanskrit documents found and deciphered by the famous Indian teacher Krishnamacharya, teacher of well-known contemporary yoga masters, T.K.V. Desikachar, (his son), B.K.S. Iyengar and K. Pattabhi Jois. When performed properly it works gently yet deeply on the nerves, glands, inner organs and muscles and help to keep you healthy, fit and energized.
Breathing is our most fundamental and vital act, it is life itself. That is why breathing is the heart of Vinyasa yoga and is linked with awareness of the movements, the asanas. Through this practice of asanas integrated with the flow of the breath, we gain control of the senses and a deep awareness of our selves.
During the class, you will be truly challenged and will experience new levels of awareness. By "opening" your body, you will come to open your heart and mind as well, experiencing overall steadiness, balance and strength. Maintaining this discipline with regularity and devotion, subtle and powerful changes will become apparent in your life including improved flexibility, muscle tone, stamina and alignment, a sense of well-being and a deeper connection with the world around you. You will feel renewed in mind and body while gaining a wonderful chance to live a longer, healthier, and happier life.
